I really should be getting ready to go out but obviously I can't let any of my life go undocumented on LJ, so I figured it was high time for an update... :p

Last week was absolutely splendid, and if I ever had the teeniest bit of doubt about a career in writing being for me, that's been completely erased. I generally despise offices - or thought I did - but it became patently obvious that it really depends what I'm doing in them as to whether I hate them or not! Writing at home is all well and good, but I have no bloody self-discipline, and find it hard to be productive when I'm sitting in my bedroom. An office environment last week meant that I was able to switch into 'work mode' and actually do what I had sat down to do. It was also nice to be writing about environmental/ethical/animal rights stuff, as I admit to feeling a bit guilty for abandoning my aspirations towards a career in the charity sector. I do still hope to find a job which incorporates something of my desire to 'change the world' as well as my love of writing! Aaaaanyway... I think finding a few more short work placements, or one longer internship, should probably be my goal now. I'm horribly broke but I'll just have to live with that. It'll all be worth it in the long term. A few weekends staying in with friends, or reading books, instead of risking going over my overdraft limit in the Dev shouldn't really be the end of the world! That said, I'm off out to an anti-facist benefit punk gig at Chats Palace in a bit, and then probably to Michelle's party afterwards. Went to Popstarz last night, but only stayed a little while as I was exhausted. Hmmm - I am seriously considering just taking a bottle for the party and enough money to get into the gig tonight, and leaving my debit card at home! What was that I was saying about self-discipline...?
